What is the MID?

What is the Motor Insurance Database (MID)?

The MID is the central record of all insured vehicles in the UK. It is managed by the Motor Insurance Bureau (MIB) and is used by the Police and the Driver and Vehicle Licensing Agency (DVLA) to enforce motor insurance laws.

The MIB shares the information on the MID with the information held at the DVLA to identify uninsured vehicles under the Continuous Insurance Enforcement scheme. Enforcement agencies and the Police also use the MID to tackle uninsured drivers and they have the power to remove uninsured vehicles from the road.

At Edison Ives we have a number of solutions to assist with updating the MID for your vehicles. Please Contact Us to discuss these options further.
