As a shisha bar owner there are a number of risks you face. The right insurance should ensure that you are financially protected should the worst happen.
Employers’ liability exposure. Often claims arise from employees lifting and moving items incorrectly. This can cause back injury, hernia, sprain, and strain. We are seeing a rise in these types of injuries which often result in compensation claims against the employer.
Employers Liability is a legal requirement so your policy should respond. There are actions you can take to reduce the chance of a claim arising. We recommend speaking to a good H&S advisor who will assist.

Shisha Lounge Insurance
Your public liability exposure. This is always a concern in a retail environment where the public visit. To reduce incidents we suggest that all stock should be on shelves, or locked cabinets. Floor coverings should be in good condition, with no frayed or worn spots on carpet. No cracks or holes in flooring. Sufficient exits must be provided and be well marked.
Car parks and pavements need to be in good repair with snow and ice removed. They should be generally level and free of exposure to slip and fall. If your business is open after dark, adequate lighting and appropriate security for the area must be present.
We strongly recommend that any business that deals with the public has Public Liability insurance. This comes as standard on most shisha bar insurance packages and is vital insurance coverage that you should have.

Other Shisha Bar Exposures
Property exposure. If an incident such as a fire occurs, substantial fire and water damage may result in your stock and contents being completely destroyed. Again a good shisha bar insurance package will cover your contents, stock and fixtures and fittings. Please make sure that you update your sums insured at least annually to ensure you are fully protected.
Crime exposure. Theft is a major concern in your sector due to the high value of the shisha equipment. It can occur from employee dishonesty or from a robbery.
Employee dishonesty is on the rise. Unfortunately many owners only find out about employee theft when it is too late. The risk can be controlled through inventory monitoring, close control of the till, and disciplined controls. Theft prevention requires careful control of money kept on site and regular bank deposits. Appropriate theft controls such as alarms, locked cabinets, roller shutters lighting, and access to the premises are recommended.
Product liability. This is a specialist cover for your sector and very difficult to obtain. You will require this cover if you produce your own items or re-label items.
